Curtis Thornton, LLMSW, Clinical Care Coordinator

My motto is "It doesn't matter if we fail or succeed, what matters is we have an opportunity to try." In life too many individuals are stripped of a fair opportunity to try to improve their lives, which leads to unhealthy life choices and lost hope. As a therapist, my goal is to provide the opportunity to try to make changes, while assisting the individual in recognizing that change does not always take the form we envision. Throughout my undergraduate and graduate studies at Eastern Michigan University, I devoted myself to learning as much as I could about client systems and the common problems they share and need to change. In my over seven years of practice, Ihave devoted myself to providing those I work with the opportunity to start the process of change in a safe environment. While I realize not all will improve, at least all are provided with the opportunity. If you combined the words of Homer Simpson with the teachings of philosophy, the message to live by might be: "Trying is the first step to failure, but it is by failing that we begin to find success." As a therapist I owe those with whom I work this opportunity.

Elizabeth (Beth) Colby, Administrative Assistant

I believe that a warm welcome is critical to the recovery process. As the administrative assistant, it is my duty to provide that warm welcome and let everyone know they are appreciated, In addition to my employment, I am a graduate of the Home of New Vision program. I realize without the program my fate would be far different than what it is today. It was the warm reception I got that led to my change, I am grateful to provide that same experience to others in need.
