Amy Dowd, MSW Candidate 2009, Intern

Amy is a Graduate student at Eastern Michigan University in the MSW program with a concentration in chemical dependency and mental illness. Her
undergraduate experience includes working as a legal advocate in the criminal justice system with survivors of domestic and sexual violence and through that
work, had previously partnered with Home of New Vision to facilitate psychoeducational groups on domestic and sexual assault with the women in our
transitional housing program. Amy came to HNV as an intern in the Fall of 2008 believes both her personal and professional experiences have led her to working
with individuals who are seeking recovery from addiction. "I know recovery is possible. I grew up in an alcoholic home and am proud to say that I've
witnessed recovery firsthand. I'm continuously amazed by the strength of my mother, among so may others who had the courage to get well. My only hope is to
impact the lives of others by carrying this message of inspiration and hope to anyone else who wishes to heal."
