Home of New Vision (HNV) is a non-profit organization that has provided innovative transitional housing and outpatient services for women committed to ongoing recovery from chemical dependency in Washtenaw County, Michigan since 1997. Our transitional homes and outpatient services are open to any chemically dependent woman.
Recently HNV has expanded our services – both to the Jackson Area, opening our sixth transitional home in downtown Jackson; and, to providing services to men. These services include Assessment and Referral; Co-Occurring/Dual Diagnosis; Correctional Housing; the LEAP Program; Outpatient Programs; and, Prevention Programs. A detailed description of our programs may be found under the “Our Programs” listing on the left index bar.
The staff at Home of New Vision uses relational and empowerment models. These models acknowledge that connections are fundamental to the growth, recovery and healing of women. We encourage the development of mutually supportive and empathetic bonds with others as we believe this assists in developing a healthier definition of self, autonomy and competency.
We recognize that chemically dependent women are not only faced with the difficulties of recovering from addiction, but that they must contend with systemic biases and oppression related to gender, ethnicity, economic status, sexual orientation, marital and parental status. Research on women's development and recovery from chemical dependency has clearly indicated that approaches that recognize these social contexts increase the individual woman's confidence - thereby encouraging healthy self-sufficiency.
